10K Race Info

Sunday 23rd August 2026 – Race Start: 10:00am

Introduction

The Birchwood 10k is a fast 10k road race over closed or partially-closed roads and paths through our leafy corner of Warrington.

The race is licenced by RunBritain and run under UK Athletics Rules.

The minimum age to take part is 15 years old on the day of the race. (There is no maximum age!)

We’ve held the race entry fee to just £26 but if you enter before 1st April 2026 you’ll get in for Only £22 !!

Entry is available from our race partners, Nifty Entries. Click HERE to enter.

Runners registered with one of the UK Athletics home country organisations, e.g. England Athletics, will get £2 discount on this fee, which is applied when completing your online entry .

Entries will be open until Saturday 22nd August or until the race entry limit has been reached.

Refund policy

If you enter the race and are you are unable to run for whatever reason, we are unable to offer refunds or deferment to next year. However, you can arrange the transfer of your race entry to another runner by using the transfer facility on the entry page at Nifty Entries website.

In the unlikely event that national, regional or local incidents force cancellation of the race, we will look at the situation as fairly as we can, depending on the prevailing situation.

The profile of the race route is mostly flat and there’s a great chance for the Birchwood 10k to be your next personal best.

The race is accurately measured and chip timed to give you spot-on results which you’ll get by text after you cross the finish line.

There is an extensive prize list, with awards and prizes across all age categories as well as club team prizes.

RACE NUMBERS – PLEASE NOTE

Race numbers will be available for collection on Race day, using Nifty’s dynamic race number allocation system. Just visit the Race HQ from 8.15 to check in using your name and date of birth on one of the tablet screens and your number with integral timing chip, will be issued. This is a proven and efficient system which will be familiar to many racers. Please allow plenty of time to collect your number before the race starts at 10am.



Race route

The race route is an accurately measured 10km along roads and tarmac footpaths in Birchwood and the village of Croft.

The entry limit is 1000 runners and the race has been full before the closing date in the past, so don’t hesitate, get your place booked.

Entry is online only, through our partners at Nifty Entries.

The closing date for Birchwood 10k race entries is midday on Saturday 22nd August 2026. There will be no entry on the day.

To give you the most up-to-date details, an email with all race day information will be sent to all registered runners around a week before race day.


Road Closures

For your safety, the route from the start to around 4km the race route is on fully closed roads. After this, roads will either be semi-closed or have traffic restrictions on them to allow you to run unhindered.

Charity

Runners are welcome to raise money for the charity of their choice at our race.

We are supporting The Mersey Forest’s 10 Million Trees project and will be making a donation to this fund from race excess. Are you a Warrington based charity? We’d love to hear from you to discuss making reduced price places available to you to help your fundraising.


Results

Your time will arrive by text soon after you cross the finish line, as long as you have provided a mobile number. Full race results will be made available to view at Race HQ after the prize presentation and results will be available on Nifty’s Results site and on the Spectrum Striders website as soon as possible, probably by the afternoon of race day.


Race HQ & Facilities

For all race day enquiries, Race HQ will be close to the car park and the shopping centre. The prize giving will be held here, normally at about 12:00 pm.

There will be portable toilets available close to the main car parks and toilet facilities are also available within the shopping centre.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer facilities to store bags or valuables.

Birchwood Shopping Centre

The Centre is a fantastic venue for shopping and to grab food and drink. Shops open from 10 am on Sundays. The centre is home to a variety of popular stores and food and drink outlets.

Spectrum Striders Members


If you are a club member, you are not allowed to enter the Birchwood 10k. Please offer to help on the day as a marshal or other helper. We need over 70 members to put on the race so we need everyone we can to help. Just for members, you can earn a 10K medal by registering for and running the Virtual Birchwood 10K. More details will be on the main club website.
